It's funny how you never notice things until you're involved in them in some sort of way. Pure London Fashion Trade show was one of those things. It popped on my Facebook, as these things tend to do from time to time, and as soon as I saw it I knew we had to be there.
Of course it didn’t take much persuading for Roz to hop on a flight out of New York at two days notice. London after all, is also always a good idea!
Pure London is a shoppers dream, whether you're shopping for yourself, your store or just perusing to see what new styles are in your future, this place is a dream. Perfect timing too as London was in the middle of a heatwave and the Olympia Exhibition Centre, home of Pure London, was one of the few places that was fully air conditioned!
Day one and we arrived 10 a.m on the dot, eager, expectant and excited. We walked in and realised immediately that all our emotions were nothing compared to what we saw. Overwhelmed, we had to regroup and did so by doing what we do best, grabbing a coffee. We were at the start of a journey which included coffee, lots of coffee, placing orders, checking out new trends, networking, and visualising what Dragonfly would become. Our fitbits were in shock!
It was here that we met the lovely Vera of ‘Beyond by Vera’ and fell in love. We couldn’t resist her bright bold designs and soulful prints inspired by her love of travel and storytelling. The patterns reminded us of our homeland, Nigeria, and the vivid bold colours of the Ankara material.
Day two, we were better prepared, not just for the heatwave but also for the magnitude of the task ahead. We abandoned public transport at Roz’s request (typical New Yorker!) and set ourselves up with a snazzy car rental, with air conditioning, no less. This time, although we armed ourselves with coffee, we didn’t need it like we did on day one. Now we were talking the talk and we looked more the part!
Three days and close to 60,000 steps later, we were done…for now…….Next stop Magic and Coterie trade show….can't wait to tell you all about it!
